A Superblue cooperation app will be released in cities all around the world.
JR is one of several artists that are embracing the “metaverse” virtual reality. The “biggest participatory art project in the world,” JR Reality, is being introduced by the French street artist in collaboration with the immersive art organisation Superblue. According to the organisers, the new initiative, which is run by the software development firm Niantic, allows participants to submit a “picture or personal memory to a particular spot, leaving behind digital touchpoints [photos and voice messages] for others to unearth for years to come.”
Only in specific cities can smartphone users download the Superblue app to get JR’s “metaverse” experience. According to a project spokeswoman, San Francisco will be the first city to provide the complete reality experience, followed by New York in the fall.
